1. Provides for the humanizing of instruction in the classroom by knowing the academic strengths/weaknesses and the home/community environment of each child; understanding and appreciating each child as an individual of worth; helping each child to recognize his or her potential, to develop his or her abilities, and to assume his or her responsibilities as a member of the group; and treating each child as an individual in accordance with his or her needs.
2. Provides for individual differences in the classroom by providing varied subject matter and learning experiences; establishing varied achievement standards for individuals with different abilities and/or past achievements; and opportunities for pupils to work independently on meaningful tasks that derive from and contribute to the planned activities of the group.
3. Makes use of available instructional materials and other resources that are appropriate to the needs of the pupils by supplementing textbooks and making appropriate use of additional resources such as: library books, reference materials, magazines and newspapers; technology; demonstrations, dramatizations, and other classroom activities; field trips; resource persons and school-related youth organizations; and individual and group projects, in or out of school.
4. Organizes learning activities to achieve specific objectives which should include the development of needed skill, the understanding of specific concepts, the development of wholesome attitudes, and the solution of meaningful problems.
5. Provides a favorable psychological environment for learning by developing and using questioning techniques that require pupils to employ the higher cognitive processes as well as to demonstrate retention and comprehension; encouraging pupils to express their ideas in group discussions; and involving pupils in planning and conducting class activities under the guidance and direction of the teacher.
6. Evaluates the progress of the students by emphasizing the application of knowledge to new situations; including achievement in all areas of instruction, habits of work, attitudes, personal traits, and group relationships; and helping each pupil to develop the ability to evaluate his or her own progress and to involve him or her in the evaluation process.
7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or other designated supervisor.
